Hindu nationalists and radical leaders use “love jihad” and “Ghar Wapsi” propaganda to divide society. They feel “entitled” because the Bharatiya Janata Party is in government. Hindu nationalist “Mosques should be converted into pig dens”.
This is what the constitution states:-
Freedom of religion in India is a fundamental right guaranteed by Article 15 and Article 25 of the Constitution of India. Article 29: This article seeks to protect the interests of the minority communities. Article 30: It provides that all minority communities—religion or linguistic, have the right to establish and administer educational institutions of their choice. Article 16 guarantees that in matters of public employment, no discrimination shall be made on grounds of race, religion, caste or language etc. On the whole, the minorities of all kinds have very secure rights in India which must be a matter of envy to the minorities elsewhere.
This is how it is being observed:-Religiously motivated violence
Anti-Christian violence in India refers to religiously motivated violence against Christians in Several community leaders said the attacks on Christians started to increase when the Hindu-nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rose to power .
Communal violence in India includes acts of violence by followers of one religious group. Religious violence in Odisha refers to civil unrest and riots in the remote forest region The Census of India shows that Christian population in Kandhamal grew On the same day, over 300 VHP incited tribal women attacked a relief camp. The latest extremist attacks against Christians in 2016 thus far have come from an unlikely source. While it follows a global trend, it’s Hindu nationalists leading efforts of persecution and attacks. .
Apr 19, 2016 – Latest attack on Christians in India confirms climate of fear
Mar 9, 2016 – India’s Christians continue to face hate and intolerance, according to International Christian Concern. ICC reports 25 Hindu radicals attacked.
While addressing a Sadbhavna rally organized by RSS in Haryana (April, 2016) Baba Ramdev, the entrepreneur cum yoga guru, while referring to Muslims said “Some person wears a cap and stands up, and “says I will not say ’Bharat Mata ki jai’ even if you decapitate me. This country has a law, otherwise let alone one, we can behead lakhs if anybody disrespects Bharat Mata, we have the capability of beheading not one but thousands and lakhs.” Just before this Maharashtra Chief Minister asserted that those who refuse to chant Bharat Mata Ki jai have no right to live in India
The coming to power of Narendra Modi in a way gave an open license to all the affiliates of RSS to indulge in open hate speech against the religious minoritiesHate Speech: Communal Violence entered the political arena with the rise of communalism Whether it is about cultural or education right’s of the minority sections of indian’s they are facing an ill-treated and mass unacceptance and suppression, constructive violence and not providing or securing there rights as mentioned in the constitution.
Communal violence is the violence in the name of religion and is targeted at the religious minorities or ‘other’ religious communities in general. Hate speech instigating violence gets translated in to rumors, about molesting women by ‘them’, cow has been killed by ‘them’, beef in the fridge, the need for forced sterilization of Muslims and Christians, exhorting conversions into Hinduism through marriage, blaming the rise of communal tensions to the increase of a particular minority religion in the state, the call on Hindus to fight back, the call on Muslims voting rights to be revoked, that mosques are not religious places of worship that may be demolished at any time, After Babri demolition hate speech was indulged in by Bal Thackeray of Shiv Sena which acted as a prelude to the Mumbai violence of 1992-93. In the build up to Babri demolition, VHP was aggressively indulging in Hate speech. Narnedra Modi wound up the refugee camps in Gujarat too soon, after the post Gujarat carnage. He said that these refugee camps have become the ‘child production centers’, referring to more number of children in Muslim families. He also went on to use the phrase, ‘Hum do-hamare do-who panch unke Pachis’ (We Hindus are two and have two children, Muslim has four wives and produces twenty children). In Muzzfarnagar (2013) two BJP MLAs indulged in lots of public speeches directing their hate against Muslims. One of them, Sangeet Som is alleged to have uploaded a video clip, in which a Muslim looking crowd is brutally beating two youth. As such the video clip was from Pakistan where a mob lynched two thieves. BJP MLA in this case commented that these are the Hindu youth who were beaten by the Muslim crowd in Muzzafarnagar. This supplemented by the rumor of the Hindu girl being molested by Muslim youth did the trick and it acted as a trigger for unleashing massive violence. The coming to power of Narendra Modi in a way has given an open license to all the affiliates of RSS combine to indulge in open hate speech against the religious minorities. The current agenda behind the hate speech is to consolidate the communal polarization of the society along lines of religion. These are few of the samples from what all has been stated in recent times. Its impact in increasing the sense of fear amongst religious minorities is more than obvious. Hate Speech and communalism and Hindu Rashtra.
As such we have seen and witnessed that how Dalits are being treated by other groups who are constantly being suppressed, and attacked these under privileged groups, the killing of dalits and there harrasment over the years has only increased, thus according to constitution neither these under privileged groups are able to enjoy there freedom to religion or cultural or education rights they are subject to be harrased whether it was the recorded case of Dalit student being killed or Gau raksha dal lynch innocent people over cow issue’s.
Gau raksha dal More than 500 cows have died in the last two weeks, say volunteers, at a shelter near Jaipur in Rajasthan, their neglected stalls turning into death trap now according to this news when hundreds of cows go stray on roads die in shelters where these groups are now, they are in news every other day for beating people (minorities) killing on the name of ‘Gau maata’.
the current agenda behind the hate speech is to consolidate the communal polarization of the society along lines of religion and for electoral benefits. While BJP was on the upswing during Ram Temple campaign one recalls that Sadhvi was propped up for religious discourses by RSS combine. She was bluntly talking anti minority things, duly endorsed by communal political organizations. This took place around the Babri demolition period. The form of propaganda of love jihad and Ghar Vapasi were on, and they continued without any respite during this year. The attack on Churches was very glaring and the process which was dominant in Delhi and Haryana was also witnessed in places like Panvel near Mumbai, Agra in UP amongst other places. Sakshi Maharaj not only said that Godse was a patriot he also went on to say that Hindu women should produce four children, as Muslims are overtaking the population. Sadhvi Prachi also gave a call that the Muslim film actors, Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan should be boycotted. Yogi Adityanath, BJP’s MP keeps making very derogatory remarks, He said that in ‘love jihad’ if one Hindu girl is converted then 100 Muslim girls should be converted to Hinduism.
It is not only disturbing but totally against the values of our democratic society that such ‘hate other’ ideology and speeches have become the weapon in the hands of a type of politics, which thrives on exclusion, which identifies a particular religious community as synonymous with the nation state, Do we need another 70 years to achieve independence?
