India continues the search of home even after 70 years of independence from British Raj, search for freedom of religion, culture, Education, protection of the minorities and Backward classes, freedom from communalism, Religiously motivated violence, Intolerance and so much more. At a Glance’.
Hindu nationalists and radical leaders use “love jihad” and “Ghar Wapsi” propaganda to divide society. They feel “entitled” because the Bharatiya Janata Party is in government. Hindu nationalist “Mosques should be converted into pig dens”.
This is what the constitution states:-
Freedom of religion in India is a fundamental right guaranteed by Article 15 and Article 25 of the Constitution of India. Article 29: This article seeks to protect the interests of the minority communities. Article 30: It provides that all minority communities—religion or linguistic, have the right to establish and administer educational institutions of their choice. The Harijans are not regarded as minority; they are treated as part of ‘Hindu community. Backward classes are not minorities. Rights of Minorities in Indian Constitution it ensures “justice, social, economic and political” to all citizens. The Indian constitution enshrines various provisions for the. Article 16 guarantees that in matters of public employment, no discrimination shall be made on grounds of race, religion, caste or language etc. On the whole, the minorities of all kinds have very secure rights in India which must be a matter of envy to the minorities elsewhere.
This is how it is being observed:-Religiously motivated violence
Anti-Christian violence in India refers to religiously motivated violence against Christians in Several community leaders said the attacks on Christians started to increase when the Hindu-nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rose to power .
Communal violence in India includes acts of violence by followers of one religious group. Religious violence in Odisha refers to civil unrest and riots in the remote forest region The Census of India shows that Christian population in Kandhamal grew On the same day, over 300 VHP incited tribal women attacked a relief camp. The latest extremist attacks against Christians in 2016 thus far have come from an unlikely source. While it follows a global trend, it’s Hindu nationalists leading efforts of persecution and attacks. .
Apr 19, 2016 – Latest attack on Christians in India confirms climate of fear
Mar 9, 2016 – India’s Christians continue to face hate and intolerance, according to International Christian Concern. ICC reports 25 Hindu radicals attacked.
While addressing a Sadbhavna rally organized by RSS in Haryana (April, 2016) Baba Ramdev, the entrepreneur cum yoga guru, while referring to Muslims said “Some person wears a cap and stands up, and “says I will not say ’Bharat Mata ki jai’ even if you decapitate me. This country has a law, otherwise let alone one, we can behead lakhs if anybody disrespects Bharat Mata, we have the capability of beheading not one but thousands and lakhs.” Just before this Maharashtra Chief Minister asserted that those who refuse to chant Bharat Mata Ki jai have no right to live in India
The coming to power of Narendra Modi in a way gave an open license to all the affiliates of RSS to indulge in open hate speech against the religious minoritiesHate Speech: Communal Violence entered the political arena with the rise of communalism Whether it is about cultural or education right’s of the minority sections of indian’s they are facing an ill-treated and mass unacceptance and suppression, constructive violence and not providing or securing there rights as mentioned in the constitution.
Communal violence is the violence in the name of religion and is targeted at the religious minorities or ‘other’ religious communities in general. Hate speech instigating violence gets translated in to rumors, about molesting women by ‘them’, cow has been killed by ‘them’, beef in the fridge, the need for forced sterilization of Muslims and Christians, exhorting conversions into Hinduism through marriage, blaming the rise of communal tensions to the increase of a particular minority religion in the state, the call on Hindus to fight back, the call on Muslims voting rights to be revoked, that mosques are not religious places of worship that may be demolished at any time, After Babri demolition hate speech was indulged in by Bal Thackeray of Shiv Sena which acted as a prelude to the Mumbai violence of 1992-93. In the build up to Babri demolition, VHP was aggressively indulging in Hate speech. Narnedra Modi wound up the refugee camps in Gujarat too soon, after the post Gujarat carnage. He said that these refugee camps have become the ‘child production centers’, referring to more number of children in Muslim families. He also went on to use the phrase, ‘Hum do-hamare do-who panch unke Pachis’ (We Hindus are two and have two children, Muslim has four wives and produces twenty children). In Muzzfarnagar (2013) two BJP MLAs indulged in lots of public speeches directing their hate against Muslims. One of them, Sangeet Som is alleged to have uploaded a video clip, in which a Muslim looking crowd is brutally beating two youth. As such the video clip was from Pakistan where a mob lynched two thieves. BJP MLA in this case commented that these are the Hindu youth who were beaten by the Muslim crowd in Muzzafarnagar. This supplemented by the rumor of the Hindu girl being molested by Muslim youth did the trick and it acted as a trigger for unleashing massive violence. The coming to power of Narendra Modi in a way has given an open license to all the affiliates of RSS combine to indulge in open hate speech against the religious minorities. The current agenda behind the hate speech is to consolidate the communal polarization of the society along lines of religion. These are few of the samples from what all has been stated in recent times. Its impact in increasing the sense of fear amongst religious minorities is more than obvious. Hate Speech and communalism and Hindu Rashtra.
As such we have seen and witnessed that how Dalits are being treated by other groups who are constantly being suppressed, and attacked these under privileged groups, the killing of dalits and there harrasment over the years has only increased, thus according to constitution neither these under privileged groups are able to enjoy there freedom to religion or cultural or education rights they are subject to be harrased whether it was the recorded case of Dalit student being killed or Gau raksha dal lynch innocent people over cow issue’s.
Gau raksha dal More than 500 cows have died in the last two weeks, say volunteers, at a shelter near Jaipur in Rajasthan, their neglected stalls turning into death trap now according to this news when hundreds of cows go stray on roads die in shelters where these groups are now, they are in news every other day for beating people (minorities) killing on the name of ‘Gau maata’.
the current agenda behind the hate speech is to consolidate the communal polarization of the society along lines of religion and for electoral benefits. While BJP was on the upswing during Ram Temple campaign one recalls that Sadhvi was propped up for religious discourses by RSS combine. She was bluntly talking anti minority things, duly endorsed by communal political organizations. This took place around the Babri demolition period. The form of propaganda of love jihad and Ghar Vapasi were on, and they continued without any respite during this year. The attack on Churches was very glaring and the process which was dominant in Delhi and Haryana was also witnessed in places like Panvel near Mumbai, Agra in UP amongst other places. Sakshi Maharaj not only said that Godse was a patriot he also went on to say that Hindu women should produce four children, as Muslims are overtaking the population. Sadhvi Prachi also gave a call that the Muslim film actors, Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan should be boycotted. Yogi Adityanath, BJP’s MP keeps making very derogatory remarks, He said that in ‘love jihad’ if one Hindu girl is converted then 100 Muslim girls should be converted to Hinduism.
It is not only disturbing but totally against the values of our democratic society that such ‘hate other’ ideology and speeches have become the weapon in the hands of a type of politics, which thrives on exclusion, which identifies a particular religious community as synonymous with the nation state, Do we need another 70 years to achieve independence?
Operation Cyclone was the code name for the United States (CIA) program to arm and finance the Afghan mujahideen prior to and during the Soviet war in Afghanistan, from 1979 to 1989. Operation Cyclone was one of the longest and most expensive covert CIA operations ever undertaken to finance the mujahideen goal of the program was to “induce a Soviet military intervention
From last few months, many terror attacks have been reported world wide the Nice terror attack and the dramatic events in Turkey, the bombing at the Prophet’s Mosque in the city of Medina, following blasts in the cities of Jeddah and Qatif the question arises is why every time an attacker is a Muslim why it is always associated with ISLAM JEHAD AND FUNDAMENTALISIM? There are many questions lingering on in mind, if we look upon the historical perspective then it would be clear that terrorist are not born they are made, and that to out of some particular interest, worlds largest economy and most powerful country itself made such groups for its own benefit but then they dumped them and left behind when left un-purpose full for them. Such groups then and there activities now are highlighted as terrorist and terrorism and Islamic fundamentalist groups?
Operation Cyclone: – Making of Taliban
Historically the formation of Taliban now (a terrorist group) was the then formed by U.S.A around 1930 under the Operation Cyclone was the code name for the United States (CIA) program to arm and finance the Afghan mujahideen prior to and during the Soviet war in Afghanistan, from 1979 to 1989. Operation Cyclone was one of the longest and most expensive covert CIA operations ever undertaken to finance the mujahideen goal of the program was to “induce a Soviet military intervention thus U.S. offered two packages of economic assistance and military sales to support Pakistan’s role in the war against the Soviet troops in Afghanistan. The first six-year assistance package (1981–87) amounted to US$3.2 billion, equally divided between economic assistance and military sales. The U.S. also sold 40 F-16 aircraft to Pakistan during 1983–87 at a cost of $1.2 billion outside the assistance package. The second six-year assistance package (1987–93) amounted to $4.2 billion. More than $20 billion in U.S. funds were funneled into the country to train and arm the Afghan resistance groups.
On 3 July 1979, Carter announced, “The Soviet invasion of Afghanistan is the greatest threat to peace since the Second World War”.With U.S. and other funding, the ISI armed and trained over 100,000 insurgents On 20 July 1987, the Soviet troops withdrawn from the country was announced pursuant to the negotiations that led to the Geneva Accords of 1988,
The program funding was increased Under the Reagan administration, U.S. support for the Afghan mujahideen evolved into a centerpiece of U.S. foreign policy, called the Reagan Doctrine, in which the U.S. provided military and other support to anti-communist resistance movements in Afghanistan, Angola, Nicaragua, and elsewhere. The mujahideen benefited from expanded foreign military support from the United States, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and other Muslim nations. Saudi Arabia in particular agreed to match dollar for dollar the money the CIA was sending to the Mujahideen.
The U.S. shifted its interest from Afghanistan after the withdrawal of Soviet troops. American funding of Afghan resistance leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar and his Hezbi Islami party was cut off immediately.
In October 1990, As the Bush regime came in power it refused to certify that Pakistan did not possess a nuclear explosive device, triggering the imposition of sanctions against Pakistan in the Foreign Assistance Act. This disrupted the second assistance package offered in 1987 and discontinued economic assistance and military sales to Pakistan with the exception of the economic assistance already on its way to Pakistan. Military sales and training programs were abandoned as well and some of the Pakistani military officers under training in the U.S. were asked to return home.
An over-view of the U.S Operation Cyclone and its subsequent aftermath
Although there are no substantial proofs but still wars underwent Islamic war groups were oriented and formed. From where they got the latest weapons to fight a country like Russia to which even U.S was not able to counter ‘point to ponder’.While there is no evidence that the CIA had direct contact with Osama Bin Laden and US funding was directed to Afghan Mujahedin groups, critics of U.S. foreign policy consider Operation Cyclone to be substantially responsible for setting in motion the events that led to the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001, a view Brzezinski has dismissed. William Hartung argues that the early foundations of al-Qaeda were built in part on relationships and weaponry that came from the billions of dollars in U.S. support for the Afghan mujahadin during the war to expel Soviet forces from that country. According to Christopher Andrew and Vasily Mitrokhin, there is “no support” in any “reliable source” for “the claim that the CIA funded bin Laden or any of the other Arab volunteers who came to support the mujahideen.” Peter Bergen writes that “the real problem is not that the CIA helped bin Laden during the 1980s, but that the Agency simply had no idea of his possible significance until the bin Laden unit was set up within the CIA in January 1996.” The United States provided financial aid and weapons to the mujahideen through Pakistan’s (ISI).
Reagan labeled the Soviet Union an “evil empire” and predicted that Communism would be left on the “ash heap of history’’
The valley which experiences severe State crack down from time to time the residences are living under curfew time to time leave the crackdown of total economy loss peace and security people die in shooting by security forces, again this indicates the struggle to free the land and to suppress the strugglers.
In Early 1948, India sought a resolution of the Kashmir Conflict at the United Nations. Following the set-up of the United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan(UNCIP), the UN Security Council passed Resolution 47 on 21 April 1948. The UN mission insisted that the opinion of Kashmiris must be ascertained. The then Indian Prime Minister is reported to have himself urged U.N. to poll Kashmir and on the basis of results Kashmir’s accession will be decided However, India insisted that no referendum could occur until all of the state had been cleared of irregulars.
Thus whether it is Kashmir Iraq Kuwait Philistine and Arab Nations the fight is on for freedom but largely the name to this freedom struggle is named as Terrorism.
Western war:- ‘The Collateral damage’’
Invasions for oil in 1991 and 1953 Coup of Iran’s democracy the killing of 4 million or more Muslims killed in Western wars on the Middle East where at lest half killed were children. The U.S. Military coins it, “Collateral damage,” as if some inanimate object or thing was broken. Take for instance the Drone pilots dropping bombs or missiles at a compound or large shopping area, or perhaps aiming at one house but 4 other surrounding houses and occupants are killed.
A Middle Eastern genocide and an endless cycle of Destabilization.
A key phrase in the convention on genocide is “acts committed with intent to destroy.” While the facts back up a massive death toll in Arab and Muslim lives, it might be more difficult to argue that the actions were carried out with the deliberate intent to destroy “a national, ethnic, racial or religious group.”
In the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, President George W. Bush employed a curious and controversial choice of words ‘The Wall Street Journal staff writers Peter Waldman and Hugh Pope noted “President Bush vowed … to ‘rid the world of evil-doers,’ then cautioned: ‘This crusade, this war on terrorism, is going to take a while.’Crusade? In strict usage, the word describes the Christian military expeditions a millennium ago to capture the Holy Land from Muslims.
In the wars that followed in Iraq and Afghanistan, the U.S. not only killed millions, but systematically destroyed the infrastructure necessary for healthy, prosperous life in those countries, then used rebuilding efforts as opportunities for profit, rather than to benefit the occupied populations. To further add to the genocidal pattern of behavior, there is ample evidence of torture and persistent rumors of sexual assault from the aftermath of Iraq’s fall. It appears likely the U.S. has contributed to further destabilization and death in the region by supporting the rise of the self-declared Islamic State of Iraq and Syria by arming rebel groups on all sides of the conflict. After 9/11, the U.S. declared a global “War on Terror,” ensuring an endless cycle of destabilization and wars in the Middle East in the process. The vast majority of the victims of these wars, and of ISIS, are Muslims. And, as extremist terrorists created by the unrest increase tensions with their attacks on the West, some Americans are embracing Bush’s controversial language of religious warfare, calling for Muslims to be placed in camps or even openly calling for genocide.
HOW NAME ASSOCIATES AND DIFFERENTIATE US ON RELIGIOUS BARRIER AND DIVIDES US WITH ALL THE OTHER CATEGORIES AS WE ARE NOT HUMANS BUT HUMAN SPECIES LIKE ANIMALS,
As we grow in harmony and brotherhood subsequently with the time we starts or the society starts defining us on various line, our name is asked when name comes there is lot that starts to build around us to which I can say the lines or barriers or boundaries, our name doesn’t carry our identity alone but the things attached to it they do carry the religion, the caste, the sub caste, creed, gender, or believes faith, book religious practices related to particular religion etc. This is the time when we learn that world is not what we used to perceive as in childhood sharing food in same plate, drinking ‘jhoota pani’ sharing same water, the other thing that is associated with name is our class, economic status, and it teaches how we are different from others and how to or not to associate and with whom and when all this covers us and nature and a particular personality starts coming up or build up.
With different perspectives of being superior or inferior from others how to contribute in society does that contribution pays us something or not. Thus childhood fragile and open minded kid is captured in this trap of self-esteem, ego, differentiation, leaving all the class room moral stories and brotherhood, sharing all this lag behind and we become a person with identity and ideology which further plays a role in our ego development if ideology doesn’t matches to ours own then the other person is being judged and so it become a process.
Today we are busy judging each other on the baseless reasons whether religion, cast, beliefs, eating habits’ dressing, physical appearance etc but we are judging no matter what, in what way, Society is standing parted, The base of humanity is left behind somewhere which was the first thing sent to us by our creator, Humbleness’, forgiving, accepting the way other is, spirituality.
Instead of finding and tagging anyone on their religious count do we ever try to find his/her spiritual aspect, humanitarian aspect?
Carry all religious book and see what they hold is …………
